As the principal of Avast Marine Surveyors and Avast Marine Services, my experience is multi-faceted, in almost every aspect of boating. I have dedicated my career to the marine sector for almost 40 years, and bring deep knowledge, skills, and reliability as well as my authentic passion for boating, both professionally and recreationally to Avast Marine. I am a qualified Shipwright and Boatbuilder, having completed my apprenticeship at the famous Halvorsen Boats, with subsequent qualifications as a Marine Surveyor.

As a Certified Marina Manager, with over 15 years’ experience in marina and marina operations management, with responsibility for boat repair and maintenance, I understand boaters’ needs. As Operations Manager at Sydney Ship Repair and Engineering (Goat Island), I held responsibility for boat repair and maintenance, ranging from 26 feet to 120 feet, and from pleasure craft to Sydney Ferries.

My experience is also reflected in the over 6000 boats I have slipped. Prior to Goat Island the experience includes as a partner / owner of a boatshed operation in Sydney Harbour, where I also worked as a Marine Surveyor, Marine Broker, and slipway operator, setting up my own shipwright business and boat brokerage based in Brooklyn, and working internationally for a London based boatbuilder, and in Corsica and Sardinia as a Bosun for a charter company.
